The system consists of sediment, backwash carbon and UV filters. Sediment filter removes dirt, sand, rust, particles. Dirt accumulates at the bottom of the transparent bowl and is purged by momentarily opening the red ball valve. The unit can be easily taken apart so that the bowl and mesh screen can be washed with soap and water. Carbon filter removes chlorine, smell, organic contaminants such as THM, toluene, benzene, pesticides, MTBE. The unit has equivalent contact area of eight (8) football fields. Periodic backwash keeps the carbon media fresh and clean, works trouble/cost free for several years. At which time you only replace carbon media ($128).
